making: decisions about paint colors (we bought a house on Friday!). I’m usually fairly decisive but paint colors have me going to Home Depot again and again for more samples.
cooking: do roasted veggies count as cooking? Potatoes and carrots drizzled with olive oil, salt, fresh pepper, and dried herbs. Yum.
drinking: Decaf coffee on repeat. #nursing
reading: I was reading The Artist’s Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity but I’ve already renewed it three times from the library and had to return it today. I’ll finish it at some point, fingers crossed. It’s pretty woo woo but I love her premise that everyone is creative.
wanting: to be done moving! Boxes and a general sense of disorganization are my life right now.
looking: like I’ve lost a lot of hair. Postpartum hormones did me in and my hair is T to the hin.
playing: with Henry. He loves peek-a-boo and having his belly kissed.
wasting: money on paint samples. I know that the purpose of a sample is to decide if you want to use the color, but I feel like it’s a waste of money to spend $4 on a sample and not use it.
sewing: [insert silence] [but I should sew a button on Nathan’s pea coat]
wishing: to be done moving. I’m noticing a trend here.
enjoying: memories from our first apartment. It’s been the sweetest home for us and we will miss it. If you’re looking for an apartment in Minneapolis, come live at Fair Oaks!
waiting: to re-tile the main level bathroom at our house. Maybe next summer.
liking: Ben Sasse’s twitter feed. It’s hilarious. And I want to read his new book: The Vanishing American Adult: Our Coming-of-Age Crisis–and How to Rebuild a Culture of Self-Reliance.
wondering: what all the plants are in our backyard. The previous owners had large garden beds for herbs and vegetables and there are wildflowers (okay, fine, weeds) everywhere. I’m most excited for the peony bushes.
loving: this season of our life: a giggly new baby, a new home full of old character, and a sense of being settled in one place and investing deeply there.
hoping: and praying for my dear sister-in-law’s healing.
marveling: at Henry. How can you not.
smelling: this amazing natural baby bottom balm from Earth Mama Angel Baby. It makes your baby’s bottom smell like an herb garden. It’s worth $8.
needing: a sleeper sofa. That’s about the only thing we need for the new house. I’m looking forward to having a guest room for my family and out-of-state friends when they visit.
wearing: this lipstick every day. I was made for the 1950’s.
following: this Instagram account. I really love the style of old homes in Minneapolis and her #myhousecrushmonday pictures are stunning.
noticing: the way Henry thinks everything is funny when he’s tired. He gets this from his mama.
knowing: this season with Henry will go so quickly. Trying to soak it all up.
thinking: about these episodes on reproductive technology from The Wednesday Conversation Podcast. Give them a listen and let’s chat about it!
bookmarking: mommy potamus. I’ll try not to become that friend who brings sugarless cookies to the park.
opening: myself to the reality that I’m an Enneagram 9. Anyone else as obsessed with Enneagram types as I am right now?
giggling: because of Henry facial expressions.
